Why it exists

It started with paper. In my twenties I worked at a law firm, and every birthday and farewell a card went around the office for everyone to sign. I loved getting mine: a page of handwriting from the people I spent my days with, many of whom became close friends. When cards went digital, something was always off. Too impersonal, too much friction, too much selling something other than the card. So I made shoutouts: a card everyone can sign in 30 seconds with no account, that the person it’s for opens like a card.

Who is behind it

One person, in New York. I design it, build it, run it and answer the support email, which means the person reading your bug report is the person who can fix it. The business is GOSHOUTOUTS, a sole proprietorship of Keith Falcon. No investors, no growth team, and nobody whose job is to get you to sign up for something.

What I won’t do

  • Ask the people signing to make an account. Ever.
  • Cap how many people can sign, on any plan, including free.
  • Put ads or trackers on a card. The links are the only way in.
  • Email anyone who didn’t give me their address for a card.
  • Sell a list of anything to anyone.

Got a card from us?

If an email said someone signed a card for you, it came from cards@goshoutouts.com and its links go to goshoutouts.com and nowhere else. We never ask for a password, a payment or a login to open one. Not sure? Ask whoever organized it, or write to me and I’ll check.
