shoutouts for Slack
Your team's group card, delivered in Slack
shoutouts for Slack sends your team's group card to the person it's for as a Slack DM the moment it's delivered, and celebrates it in the channel you choose. Everyone still signs with one link and no account.
Make a team workspace, then connect Slack from its Settings. Free for 14 days, no card needed.

How it works
Connect once. The cards take care of themselves.
1
Connect Slack
An admin presses Add to Slack in the workspace's Settings and picks a public channel. A test message shows it worked.
2
Cards open for your people
Birthdays and work anniversaries from your roster open a card on their own. Start any other card by picking who it's for.
3
On the day, Slack does the rest
The person it's for gets it as a DM, the channel gets a celebration, and the email goes too.
In their DMs
The card arrives where they already are
At the time the organizer picked, the bot sends the card to the person it's for. A Slack DM has no spam folder, so a card can't quietly go missing.
- Matched by the email already on your roster
- The email still goes, for anyone not on Slack

In the channel
The whole team hears about it
At the same moment, the bot posts in the public channel you picked, with a button that opens the card. It says how many people signed, never who.
Switch it off, or keep it and leave the button out, in Settings.
Jordan8:52 AMMorning all! Stand-up is at 10:15 today.

Every Monday
This week's cards, sent for you
On Monday morning, everyone on your roster gets the week's cards to sign as a DM, with the one link for all of them. No more pasting it into a channel.
- Anyone with a card that week is left off
- It thanks anyone who already signed

shoutoutsAPP9:00 AM
🖊️ 3 cards to sign this week for people on the team. About a minute each, no account needed, and they're a surprise.

Sign the cards
One link for all three. Please don't share it with anyone named above: their own cards are inside. Already signed? Thank you — you can ignore this one.
Private by design
What the bot never does
Tell anyone who signed
Signing is anonymous. The bot only ever gives a count.
Read your Slack
It has no permission to read a conversation, and it never lists your directory: it looks up one roster email at a time.
Post where you didn't ask
One public channel you pick, and DMs to people on your roster.
Stay after you remove it
Disconnect in Settings, or remove the app in Slack. Every message stops.
Permissions
Every permission it asks Slack for, and what it's for
| Permission | What it's for | When it's used |
|---|---|---|
chat:write | Sending the DM and the channel post | When a card is delivered |
chat:write.public | Posting in the channel you picked without being invited first | When a card is delivered |
im:write | Opening a DM with the person a card is for | When a card is delivered |
channels:read | Listing public channels so an admin can pick one | In Settings, when an admin asks |
users:readusers:read.email | Finding the Slack account for an email on your roster: the only way the bot knows whom to DM. If an admin asks, the profile photo of someone with none on the roster | A few roster emails a minute, when a DM is sent, and when an admin adds Slack photos |
We keep the bot's token (encrypted), the channel you picked and a Slack ID for each roster person it found. Never messages, your directory, or who signed. The privacy policy says the same.

Questions
Can the bot read our messages?
No. It can post, open a DM, list public channels and look up a person by email. None of its permissions reads a conversation.
What about someone who isn't on Slack?
They get the card by email, as they always did. The email goes to everyone with an address on the card, Slack or not.
Can it post in a private channel?
Not yet: public channels only. Tell us through support if you need a private one.
Who can connect it?
An admin of your shoutouts workspace who can install apps in your Slack. If they can't, Slack asks your Slack admin for them.
Does it cost extra?
No. It's part of every team plan, including the free trial.
