Questions
shoutouts is a group card site: one person starts a card, everyone signs it from a link, and the recipient opens it like a card. These are the questions people ask before their first one.
- Do the people signing need an account?
- No — and they never will. They tap your link, write a message, and they're done. No signup, no app, and no limit on how many people sign.
- Is the free version actually usable?
- Yes. A free card is the whole card: any design, any opening, any celebration, a background of your own, unlimited messages and doodles from unlimited people, and the same animated reveal. Paying changes what people can add to it (photos and GIFs on Standard; video, voice notes and YouTube on Plus), how long we keep it, and the small footer.
- Can I change how the card looks?
- Yes, and all of it is free. There are twenty designs, each with its own colors and its own scene behind the messages; thirty-two openings for what the recipient taps on the cover (a gift, a piñata, a big smile); a celebration that fills the screen when it opens; and the page behind the messages can be any color, or your own photos as a collage or a photo wall.
- Can I read messages before the recipient does?
- Yes. Every card has a moderation queue. You can require approval before anything appears, and remove anything you'd rather they didn't see.
- When does the recipient get it?
- You pick the date and the time, in your timezone. If you added their email, it lands within a few minutes of then; either way you get a link to send yourself. Signing closes at delivery, so the card they open is the finished one.
- What if the email lands in their spam folder?
- It can happen — we're a new sender, and that reputation takes time to build. You also get a direct reveal link you can text or hand over yourself, so delivery never depends on email alone.
- How long does the card stay up?
- Free cards are archived 60 days after delivery, Standard a year after, and Plus cards never are. If keeping it matters, Plus is the plan built for that.
- What does a card cost?
- One price per card, no subscription and no per-person fee. The plan decides what people can add: words and doodles are free, photos and GIFs are Standard, video and voice are Plus. Pick it when you create, or start free and upgrade later at the same price. Teams that make cards all year have a workspace plan instead.
